Association Media Group Website Properties

Our websites and our association partner websites, including our online directories provided on behalf of our association partners, may contain analytics software, banner advertising technology and retargeting pixels/cookies. While not all of our websites contain each technology for the purposes of this privacy policy please assume that the site you are accessing does and please find details about what is collected below.

Analytics software collects information about your habits while you visit the website. Banner advertising will record each time an ad is viewed and each time an ad is clicked. The analytics software and banner advertising technology anonymizes all IP addresses and does not collect personally identifiable information.

There are two cookies the banner advertising technology places on your computer.

A frequency capping cookie:

  • Data Collected:

    • A non-personal ID that links to the zone and/or advertisement (not the individual)

    • A timestamp

  • Purpose of Cookie:

    • Ensure that a user doesn’t see the advertisement repeatedly

  • Duration of Data Stored:

    • The duration for this cookie may vary depending on campaign

  • Extent of Data Processing:

    • The data this cookie collects is not shared with any third parties

A conversion tracking cookie:

  • Data Collected:

    • A non-personal ID that links to the zone and/or advertisement (not the individual)

  • Purpose of Cookie:

    • Allow attribution of an advertisement to a desired goal. This does not track an individual, only the source advertisement

  • Duration of Data Stored

    • This cookie expires within 180 days

  • Extent of Data Processing:

    • The data this cookie collects is not shared with any third parties

The analytics data is aggregated to provide us the ability to determine what content is most valuable, areas where we can improve the site, and to provide site traffic data for our association partner and advertisers. Any data gathered is removed automatically after 14 months.

The banner advertising data is shared with our association partner and advertisers that display their ads on the website. The data shared only displays the total number of impressions and number of clicks. It does not capture any personally identifiable information.

No individual data is gathered and stored by Association Media Group unless submitted directly on the website by you, the user, on our “Contact Us” form. Further, Association Media Group does not share, sell or rent any personal data to third parties, nor is individual data accessible to Association Media Group, its association partners, or advertisers. We utilize 3rd party services to enable all services, including Google Analytics, AdButler, Comcast, The Trade Desk, and others.

Association Media Group Retargeting and Programmatic Services

We provide retargeting and programmatic services for associations. In some cases, our association partner websites may contain retargeting pixels/cookies (hereafter “retargeting pixels”). These retargeting pixels utilize several technology providers including Beeswax by FreeWheel, a Comcast Company, and AppNexus. These technology providers may change from time to time, however the technology and our access to data and your data is consistent as outlined below.

The retargeting pixel technology collects information to help target online advertising to you based on your visit to the website, which is associated with an international, national, state, or local association, or rarely, with a for-profit business. The information provided through the retargeting pixels includes your browser type (e.g. Chrome or Firefox), the date and time of the request, pages viewed, your operating system (e.g. Macintosh, Windows, Android, OSX), device type, the URL or App you are using, and your Internet service provider (e.g. Verizon or Comcast).

The information is collected through the use of tracking technologies, such as first and third-party retargeting pixels. The pixels, which are small, invisible 1x1 images allow our technology providers to set, read and modify cookies on your computer’s hard drive when you visit the websites or apps of our association partners.

You can opt out of receiving personalized ads served by our retargeting technology providers (or many other participating providers) by clicking on the blue icon that typically appears in the corner of the ads we serve and following the instructions provided, or by visiting: https://optout.aboutads.info/?c=2&lang=EN. Please note that this “opt out” function is browser-specific and relies on an “opt out cookie”. If you delete your cookies after having opted out, you will need to opt out again. Additionally, if you change devices, or web browsers you may need to repeat the opt out process for each browser and device.

Some browsers offer you the ability to opt out of cookie-based and other online tracking, which may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of your Personal Information. You can utilize such browsers that offer you this ability to communicate your privacy preferences when you visit websites with active retargeting pixels for our services. The technology providers do not respond to do not track or other browser-based signals.

Please note that opting out will not prevent you from seeing ads, but those ads will likely be less relevant because they won’t be tailored to your interests. The ads might, for instance, be randomly generated or based on the web page you are visiting.

The following information may be received or be part of the retargeting and programmatic services.

  • Geolocation Information: The retargeting services may receive latitude and longitude of mobile users from publishers or ad exchanges. We use such data for targeting ads and evaluating their success. This information is also maintained in the technology providers logs in accordance with their data retention policy. In the European Union, when precise location information is received and it is known that the user or the ad request is subject to GDPR, the location data is truncated to three decimal places to be less precise before storing such data. Similarly, if you are resident of Virginia or Colorado, when precise location information is received and the technology providers know the user or the ad request, they truncate the location data to three decimal places to be less precise before storing such data

  • Information from Third Parties: The retargeting technology providers also receive information about you from third parties when you interact with third party sites or apps. They combine the information received from these third parties with the information directly collected from you and use such information in accordance with requirements under applicable data protection and privacy laws.

Additionally, device level information is available below detailing what is provided and how to limit tracking or opt out.

  • Mobile Devices: To provide relevant ads to users on mobile devices the technology providers also collect the following mobile specific information: device type, make and model, operating system, mobile advertising identifiers, operating system device identifier and information about the apps you use. They also use the GPS location of your device if you have opted-in to provide it to one of the publishers or ad exchanges. Your iOS mobile device may provide a “Limit Ad Tracking” setting and other settings that allow you to control the data that applications use for location and interest-based advertising. On Android devices, your settings may allow you to “Opt out of Interest-Based Ads.” When you have opted out using this setting the retargeting technology providers will not use your unique device identifier to target ads to you or place you in segments for future marketing.

  • Connected TV: To opt-out of interest-based advertising for a CTV (televisions with third party connected applications, smart televisions and/or digital media streaming devices), please visit the NAI’s Internet Connected TV Opt-Out Instructions Page located at https://www.networkadvertising.org/internet-connected-tv-choices/ .

  • Cross-Device Linking: The retargeting services offer cross-device linking services. These services attempt to identify which identifiers are associated with the same user across multiple devices, such as between a desktop computer and a mobile device. To enable these services, your anonymized information is shared with contracted third parties that provide cross-device linking services. For consumers who have opted-out from the use of your Personal Information by retargeting technology providers no information is shared with these third parties and they do not attempt to re-identify the user in any way. Cross-device linking services are not utilized when the user or the ad request is subject to GDPR or otherwise not permitted. To effectively opt-out of cross-device linking services, users must opt-out on every device and browser.

Retargeting service providers share certain Personal Information with us in connection with the offering of their services. For example, upon request we may receive a log of all ads served with data about your cookie and mobile advertising identifiers that interacted with the ads, including IP host addresses and other pseudonymous information in non-aggregated form. When the user or the ad request is subject to GDPR, any personal data for which a separate consent has not been received are anonymized (one-way hashed) before being shared and are sufficiently protected as required by GDPR.

Sometimes, the retargeting technology providers aggregate or de-identify information so that it can no longer identify you, under applicable laws and regulations. They share aggregated information, such as usage statistics, with advertisers, sponsors or other organizations. This helps to better understand and represent users, such as when measuring ad performance, creating advertising interest-based segments or compiling survey results. They will use and disclose this aggregated or de-identified information for any purpose, unless such use is prohibited by applicable law.

Association Media Group Online Directories

If your company is listed on our directory your company most likely provided the data to the association or organization that the directory represents, made a request directly to Association Media Group to be added to the directory, or the company data was deemed relevant and was gathered via a publicly available channel such as a website or other public directory.

The data displayed on a directory powered by Association Media Group is used to help the relevant association members locate companies that provide products and services that they may find useful. The data displayed includes company name, logo, address, phone, fax, and email address for a business. The data may also include a personal contact or contacts at the company utilizing their professional contact details. The data stored on the back-end of the directory software includes company name, address, phone, fax, and email addresses as well as professional contact details for company representatives when available. Companies that elect to advertise approve all data representing their company. All companies, advertisers or not, have the ability to review and can request to edit their company information at any time. Furthermore, any company listed may "claim" their listing and manage the publicly visible data themselves, including removing the listing completely.

The front-end display data is shared, unencumbered, with any internet user. Data stored in the back-end of the directory system is not sold or rented to any other party. The data is shared with the relevant association, and in rare cases a third-party technology company may be enlisted to help improve our technology and services and have brief access to the data. In that event, the third party will abide by the same privacy policy as Association Media Group and Association Media Group does not grant the third party any license to utilize the data in any way other than the express purpose of improving the technology platform or related services.
